The Nebraska Junk Jaunt starts today! I have been dying to take the journey for the past few years however, it never seems to work with my schedule. I had forgotten it was happening this weekend until my friend Cammie called to invite me to join her on the jaunt. http://www.junkjaunt.com/
I struggled with my decision. You see, the photo above is my garage. My garage has been waiting all summer for me to sort and organize a garage sale. My window of opportunity is nearly up since snow has been known to arrive in Minnesota as early as October. My husband is anxious to have a spot back in the overpopulated garage for his car. Imagine that.
I just finished A New Earth written by Eckhart Tolle. At the very end of the book he talks about acceptance, enjoyment and enthusiasm. I was torn....I would thoroughly enjoy a junking get-a-way and would no doubt shop with enthusiasm. After much thought and an exaggerated look of distress on my husband's face, I chose the acceptance route. I accept the fact that I will stay home and prepare for my sale and promised myself I will enjoy the people I meet and enthusiastically make a spot in the garage for my husband's car.
Cammie promised me lots of photos of the Junk Jaunt so I can share them with you next week. More Junk Bonanza stories to come.

You mean I'm not the only one with a garage like that? And I can definitely relate to the husband saga. If you have a garage sale, can I come? I think I maybe can get I more thing in my garage!

I appreciated your post because I find myself facing a decision like this almost on a daily basis. When my grown children ask me to borrow one of my tools and I tell them to just stop by and get it out of my garage, they just say "forget it Mom, I'm not going near your garage. I'll just go to Walmart and buy one". It's embarrassing.
OH, I so want to come to your garage sale. I think I even spy some things that I've seen in your books.
Haven't I seen that western lamp before??? Oh I wish I lived closer. Wait a minute, Didn't I just wrench my knee setting up all my junk for my sale?? What do I need more for?? I guess I need some acceptance,
I'd love to see more pics of that garage, close ups, inside some of the boxes, etc. Maybe you can have Kerry take some pics as you are sorting, and pricing.

I love it! I recently had to clear out space in my garage so that my family could use the pool table again...maybe we should host a blog tour of garage photos :)

Another junker with a full garage here -- I've had to park my car in the driveway for months. Well, got a brand new car yesterday and it is NOT going to sit outside for very long. I am on a mission to get that garage cleaned out this weekend. Not sure yet where everything is going, but my car is going inside!!
I think you made the right decision. After all, it frees up some room for more JUNK!!
That's not really the idea, is it? Oh well, you'll probably enjoy being home after the hectic pace of the Bonanza!

Can't wait to read more on your blog. Will you be putting together a magazine...I bought the premier issue back in 2006 and I still have it. Loved it immensely.
