Life on the farm. KC comes home.
Meet KC. She was named after all us kids in the family. You see, there were five of us. My mom figured if she gave us all first names that started with the letter K and middles names that began with C, she would save time and money labeling the clothes and supplies we schlepped to camp. We proudly share the KCB monogram.
When my folks heard I was coming to spend some time with them in Ocala, Florida this winter, they graciously offered to send KC to Horse Camp so I could ride during my stay. KC is just coming 4 years old and has spent all of her life playing horse with her mom and grandmother in the field. When she left for a month's stay with trainers Fred and Roe she was short on manners and unfamiliar with simple requests such as leading, tying, and carrying a saddle and rider. Oh, and there's that biting thing....
Fortunately, she graduated Horse Camp with flying colors thanks to her level head and kind heart. Fred and Roe said she was ready to come home!
She learned to trust humans and their seemingly silly requests like getting on and off a horse trailer without making a fuss!
It was obvious KC was glad to be home. What she didn't realize, life would be different.
KC waved goodbye to Fred and instantly settled into her new pasture.
She found her hay in a flash!
My sister,Karla, offered KC a stall in her barn. Life is different. KC is home.
I will update you on her progress. The good, bad, funny, and ugly. I am thankful to my folks and Karla and her husband, Gail, for giving me the opportunity to enjoy my passion for horses. Just gotta monitor that biting thing. We all took an oath...no hand fed treats until she learns humans are not not meant to be snacks!
Check out the Junk Revolution online store. We have added a new category for one of a kinds. We will continue to add new items.
Need to run and take horse blankets off. It is warming up outside!
Peace,
Ki

Hey Ki KC is just the most gorgeous! Great that you get to enjoy her while you're here. Love horses but have never owned one...have a friend who's knid of the horse whisperer around here...I'll ask when I see her this weekend if she has any tips for the biting thing! Hope you enjoy the weekend...the weather will be MUCH nicer than last...just ignore all the droopy frozen brown stuff that used to be our tropical plants! Will we ever learn that Miami's tropical, not us!! LOL *elaine*

What a pretty girl! Gosh I wish riding and having a horse. One day I guess!
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful. I always loved brushing my cousin's horses when I visited her. Wish I had more exposure as an adult. I'm sure she'll discriminate between human hand and peppermint before too long. Enjoy! ~Mindy
ReplyDeleteWarmer weather and I declare you are in Utopia!
ReplyDeleteThe flea market pics were great. I love seeing industrial pieces and large collections of things, and you found both!
