Here Kitty Kitty. Cat Bed Junk Project.

Meet Oliver! Oliver is a beloved member of my sister's family. Today he is a happy cat! With the help of Gail, my brother-in-law, and my sister, Karla, Oliver has a new bed.

I acquired this old table almost a year ago. I immediately had the idea of turning it into a dog bed and just never got around to it. I suspect you have a few ugly ducklings lurking in your garage waiting to become swans.

Well it didn't exactly become a dog bed...

The headboard is made from scrap trim measured and cut to fit between two legs.

I purchased four 4 1/2" finials at Lowes. Vintage knobs would work, as well. Gail cut aprox. 1" off leg bottoms to accommodate base of finials.

The 2"H feet are made from scrap pine and secured with wood glue and screws. Simple blocks of wood are a sufficient alternative.

Thanks to Gail aka Hardly Able Workshop the construction went smoothly. (Overall finished dimensions are 20"W x 29 1/2"L x 26 1/2"H.) FYI Apron is 3 1/2"H...perfect for holding our cushion.

After selecting my vintage fabric for the cushion, I chose Valspar Dune grass interior latex satin to match. I lightly sanded, primed, and painted.

To add a little pizazz I used a paint marker I purchased at Michael's to fill in existing router lines.

My sister made a cushion with leftover foam. Don't sew? Use a bed pillow. I know what you are thinking. It looks awful girly to be a boy cat's bed...

Oliver doesn't seem to mind.

I am packing this weekend and hitting the road for Minnesota via Canton Texas. Check out Margo's blog for our scheduled Canton meet-up. This week's winner of the Good Junk Seal of Approval is Jennifer Price. She is a brilliant junk artisan with amazing junk style. Don't forget Junk Revolution on-line store has junking tees for dad!

Since I will be traveling for a few weeks, I won't have a new post for a while. Thanks for all your junk and munch travel recommendations on the Junk Revolution message boards. I will hit as many as I possibly can without driving my husband crazy!
Peace,
Ki
