What does TV have to do with Junking? Nothing.

I started this post during a commercial for So You Think You Can Dance. I don't watch a lot of TV but I do like this show along with American Idol. The only problem is I feel like such a slug after watching all those wonderfully athletic, beautiful, and energetic bodies dancing across the stage. Makes me feel like going to a flea market and dragging the heaviest cupboard across the field to my pick-up...several times.



My day began with coffee with my best friend. If you are going to get to know me then you must know my rock. Patty and I have been best friends for 30+ years. We have continued to pass the same birthday card back and forth for over 20 years. (Recycling Hallmark would not be excited about.) She has to caretake the card for 11 months, I just need to store it for 1 month. She has all the pressure! As many of you know I am starting a new business, Junk Revolution. She has been my reason and support. I found out just today, while she has been listening to me share my fears and tribulations, she has been volunteering at a summer tutoring program for homeless families in downtown MPLS. I am humbled once again by the people I love. She hated having her picture taken...I didn't tell her tomorrow she would be famous!

Okay, As I mentioned I love watching American Idol. My husband and I have gotten totally into it...and I won't apologize. When I was in LA visiting our daughter Taylor this spring she surprised me with tickets to the show and better yet, back stage passes. I guess you could say I was a little star struck! (Taylor is an up and coming young actress...you may have seen her dead on CSI) That is for another blog.



I didn't go junking today...but I did get to spend some time at Home Depot while I gathered materials for my Country Home November column. I do love hardware stores. I bet I'm not the only one!

    I love Dancing With The Stars. That is great your daughter is an actress and she got you backstage passes(-: I bet you had a blast!

    I'm so excited that you have your own blog now. My sister, daughter, and I are big fans of your books and your articles. I hope we can make it up to the Bonanza sometime. I'm from the Kansas City area where David Cook lives. Great photo!

    Is David Cook not the cutest thing ever, and YOU got to hug him.

    We all long for that one friend, like your Patty. They know you, warts and all and still love you just the same.

    I love that you recycle the greeting card.

    Loved your picture with my daughter's favorite idol-David Cook. Since you are starting a new business will you still be connected to the AJC and Sue? I've signed up with Junk Revolution and can't wait to see where it takes us all!! Good Luck and will definitely be checking this blog out.

    I love the fact that you and Patty recycle the same card year after year. Brilliant! She sounds like such a loving and giving person.

    Welcome aboard the blog world, Ki! It seems you and I are in the same boat! ('Junk Boat' of course).. I just started my blog (rustandsplinters) a few weeks ago. I, too, am taking baby steps...I just emailed Margo asking how you link up to someone else's blog? Whether you have to be invited or what? Anyway, if that's the case, I would love for you to add rustandsplinters onto your blog! (only if you want to, of course) Anyway, good luck with it all...it looks great!!!

    We all need a moment or two of junk free living. Okay, for David Cook, change that to three or four. ;-) I'm sure your daughter made a beautiful corpse for CSI, but how disconcerting was it for you to see her like that? Or have you seen the clip yet? Sounds like she may be on her way - look at what being a corpse did for Kevin Costner!!!

    You are too cute! I took a similar picture with Andrew DanJumbo... (from 'While you were out' & 'Take Home Handyman') and I was in my glory! LOL

    I love Dancing w/the Stars - it's a show my dh (dear husband) loves too.

    This girl I knew was the dead redhead photographed in Silence of the Lamb!!! Too funny, your lil one did the same (I know she's grown - but they are always your little ones) - well mine are still little.. Later!
